Single sign-on and guest access to Adobe Connect

I’ve made our Adobe Connect service single sign-on for our employees and nicely work for our guests – all behind Novell iChain accelerator. It was a pain in the neck to make them work together. A lot of weird HTTP header and URI issues. Even though Adobe Connect offers a nice API to manage meetings, log in users and guests, it’s really proxy-unfriendly.

Some of my troubles and the solution are at

When enabling the second vhosts in Apache2 <virtualHost *:80> on a SUSE server, apache restart gave me the following error:

“_default_ VirtualHost overlap on port 80, the first has precedence”

Solution: in /etc/apache2/listen.conf add or uncomment following line:
NameVirtualHost *:80

When I need to configure PHP settings in .htaccess, I need ‘AllowOverride All’ line in Apache config. Then I can add something like following to .htaccess:

# 6143 is value of E_ALL
php_value error_reporting 6143

How ScriptAlias confused me

Filed under: Java — negev @ 2:56 pm

As I don’t use CGI often, I have to read confusing Apache documentation and google everytime I configure them. Somehow it looked as a good idea to add ScriptAlias statement to my Apache2 vhost config. However, it didn’t help at all and it broke it down. So now I know: I don’t want to use it normally.

# Following line is BAD BAD, it makes CGI not work!
#ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ “/Users/peterk/”

# Following works nicely
<Directory “/srv/www/vhosts/”>
Options FollowSymLinks ExecCGI
AddHandler cgi-script .cgi
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all

How to set PHP values in .htaccess

Sometimes I need to set PHP values in .htaccess. And when I forgot that it’s php_flag statement, then I found nice examples of it at

php_flag display_errors on
# Following disables warning when accessing uninitialized array entries like $_SESSION[‘user_id’]
php_value error_reporting 4097

If I need to disable access to a folder, I add this to .htaccess:
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from al
